In this design, we sought a complete, comfortable and affordable housing solution for a young family while maintaining value for money. We needed to optimize the house so that all bedrooms are self-contained and still build a Family Room and Detached Servant Quarter (DSQ).

Introduction

The Residence at Olkeri has been a delightful project for us to undertake.

The challenge for this was simple: An elegant house that does not need to be painted or adorned with extras. The house must simply be beautiful in the way it is built and how the stones are shaped.

In brief, a timeless house, or what we call an “Old House” in the rustic style.

The House was located on a hilly site that was forested. It required careful site selection.

Building a beautiful timeless house takes time. Construction will teach you to be patient with others and patient with yourself.

House Features and Advantages

  • Spacious Lounge with a chimney. The Lounger opens to a spacious verandah which is protected from direct sun by a covered Pergola.
  • A beautiful entrance veranda with an overall pleasant look. The floor is finished with natural slates (Mazera) to give a welcoming feel.
  • The external walls are natural stones dressed and finished to bring out the beauty of the composition.
  • There is direct visibility between the functional spaces and the outdoors. The user does not have anxiety when visitors approach the house from the gate, thanks to its careful design and positioning./ Orientation.
  • Spacious Lounge approximately 30 Square metres for flexible arrangement of furniture to suit your needs or moods.
  • Large Windows in all rooms to allow more natural light. This saves on artificial lighting.
  • A double ensuite Guest Bedroom  with a micro-kitchen (Kitchenette).
  • Privacy in the house between the primary bedroom (Master) and the secondary bedrooms (Two)
  • Water Storage above the ceiling space maximizing use of space.
